What is Invisalign®?
Many adults avoid orthodontics because they don’t want metal braces. Some teens are also reluctant to wear braces. For most adults and many teens, Invisalign® provides a clear alternative to braces. Invisalign is the clear way to straighten teeth using a series of removable, comfortable, invisible aligners that gradually move your teeth — without metal wires or brackets. Invisalign uses 3-D computer imaging technology to map the complete treatment from start to finish. From this plan, a series of custom-made aligners unique to your treatment is produced. Each aligner is worn for two weeks, and is then replaced by the next aligner. Your appointments are every 6-8 weeks when we confirm that your treatment is on track and you pick up your next set of aligners. Gradually, the teeth move toward their final position.
What are the advantages of Invisalign?
- Invisalign is virtually invisible, so most people won’t know that you are straightening your teeth!
- You remove the aligner for eating and pop it back in afterwards, so you don’t have to worry about getting food stuck in braces and can eat whatever you want.
- You can also remove the aligner for brushing, flossing and when playing sports.
The Invisalign system is also available to teenagers with certain orthodontic bite problems. Watch this video to help you decide if Invisalign is right for you.
